The Florida Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association said July 26 it signed a purse agreement with Calder Casino & Race Course.

The agreement runs through Dec. 31. The two parties have been negotiating for some time.

"We ironed out the remaining details this week," Florida HBPA executive director Kent Stirling said in a release. "Our horsemen are pleased that South Florida racing will continue uninterrupted."

The Florida HBPA earlier told Calder it would pull its approval for the track to export its signal out of state if it couldn't strike a deal.

"With Florida racing in its current state of turmoil, both sides agreed it was best to approach this from a short-term perspective," Florida HBPA president Phil Combest said.

Details of the contract weren't immediately available.

Calder and Gulfstream Park are currently running head-to-head on weekends for the first time. The overlap will continue through June 2014 if the two tracks don't agree on a schedule.
