Christopher Guest, known for writing and directing satires like This Is Spinal Tap, Best in Show and For Your Consideration, will be stepping back in front of the camera if a new series from NBC Universal moves forward. Called Family Tree, the show will follow Guest?s character as he discovers his family through a picture-filled trunk left to him by his deceased great aunt.
Variety reports that the series will be produced for air jointly between the United States and the United Kingdom. The trade paper also explains that the episodes will be written in the same way as Guest?s films, meaning they will come in outline form and give the actors a chance to improvise within the scene. With Guest on board, expect to see many of the actors he?s enlisted in his films like Eugene Levy, Catherine O?Hara, Fred Willard, Harry Shearer, Jennifer Coolidge and more.
